Combat fundamentals

Read the fight before spending the bar

Dinoblade is built around stamina pressure. Blocking and attacking spend stamina, clean deflects restore stamina and Resonance, and Charge Attacks turn Resonance into burst damage when you have space.

Official:March 29 update: all-direction blocking and mouse/keyboard target lock.
Hands-on notes:Hands-on notes confirm Charge Attack, red-glint teaching, QTEs and Instinct Encounter flow.

Core actions from the Demo

  • Heavy Attack combo uses CTRL in the recorded notes.
  • Charge Attack uses hold C. Release early for a quick energy blade projectile; fully charge for a stronger strike that costs 5 Resonance.
  • Press 4 after unlocking boss summons to call a defeated boss for a powerful charge-style attack.
  • The boss Resolve Bar sits under the HP bar. Dealing damage and perfect parries build it faster; when full, a clean deflect can trigger a bone-shattering Instinct Counter.
  • QTEs appear during boss fights, including the KASEI transition.

Red-glint attacks

The developer says red-glint attacks cannot be blocked but can be parried, with a severe penalty for mistiming. The same interview says roughly 95% of attacks previously treated as unblockable were made deflectable. Treat that percentage as a developer statement—not a verified move-by-move list.

A testing protocol

  • Test one defensive option against the same attack several times.
  • Record direction, distance, stamina change and whether the camera or target lock changed the result.
  • Do not infer invulnerability frames from one successful attempt.
  • If the release build differs from the Demo, update the page and retain a dated note rather than silently rewriting history.
